So, we are six weeks into t-ball practice and our first game is this weekend. Bowden is still really enjoying it, probably more for the social aspect than anything else, but likes it nonetheless. Our coach is very serious this time around, which is good and bad. Good, in the fact that B is learning a lot; bad in that we've been having three practices a week!!
Jason took Bowden to practice last night and came home with a pretty funny story. To give you a little history of our coach, he played college baseball at OSU, I think, and is now a fire chief. So, let's just say he doesn't have a high tolerance for a lot of 5 year-old funny business.
So, last night, there were some people by the practice field flying kites. Apparently, the boys were really distracted by it and the coach started getting pretty frustrated. He circled them up for a little pep talk and basically said, 'we are here to practice, but if you want to waste time flying kites, then just go fly kites.' I think that kind of statement works when the kids are older b/c everyone, either out of fear or enthusiasm, says, 'no, let's practice!' Not these little guys, they all took off running for the kites and had to be called back. Jason said it took all he had to not die out laughing. Our coach is really doing a great job, but I think it might take him a little while to get the hang of motivating 5 year-olds.
