Fall 2010

Most the time, I update by the month, but it looks like this time, I'm going to update you on a season! The most exciting thing that happened this Fall was the decision Bowden made to accept Christ. It's been a very sweet time for us to watch Bowden do this and to hear him articulate what he's learned over the years and why he wanted to do it. Melts my heart everytime!! Something else that made it extra special was that an old friend of ours from college baptized Bowden. When B started asking questions, which I must say were pretty mind-boggling coming from a 7 year-old, (for example, "So why did God put that tree in the garden anyway? and "Do people that go to Hell ever get another chance to go to Heaven?")we stayed up late and answered all we could and after several weeks of this, we had him meet with Jarrett to talk some more. Later that night, Bowden asked to pray and ask Jesus into his heart, so it was very fitting to have Jarrett be the person to baptize him. Let's see....Bowden also played flag football this season. He absolutely loves football and had a really great time playing. A major downside to this team (among other things) was that our coach graduated from LSU, so our team was named the Tigers. At one game, our coaches' wife actually made a run through sign that read, 'Geaux Tigers', at which point, I could no longer deny who we were named after. It was the only time I've thought since he's been gone that I'm glad Dad wasn't here to see this. It really goes without saying, he would not have been happy, but oh, how he would have loved watching the LSWho/ARKANSAS game! WPS! I love these pics...they really remind me of Jason...

Like everyone else, we also celebrated Halloween. Here are some cute pics our 'Playa' and 'Balla'. Ha!

Other than all that, thanks to the Luces, Jason took Bowden to his first Cowboys game. B is now officially a diehard Cowboys fan--nothing makes him more mad than hearing me call them the Cowgirls. Ha! His favorite player is Miles Austin. We also spent several days with the Luces over Thanksgiving and had a great and relaxing time.

Pierce is still as funny and fiesty as ever. He keeps us laughing with all the stuff he says and does. Something he learned from a buddy at school is to end all his songs with, "Tank you, tank you!" It gets me everytime... Life has gotten a little crazier in the last month or so. I've started helping out at Jason's office three days a week. With it being year-end, it hasn't been overly busy, so it's given me some time to figure out what I'm doing, so at this point, I know enough to be dangerous. This change in schedule has reminded me what a routine person I am and changes to the routine really make my head spin until I adjust, sooo if I've forgotten something or you see me and my crazy flag is flying at full mast, you know why. This also somewhat explains the blog hiatus, but if I'm being honest, I have a new boyfriend named Facebook that is probably more of the cause. I vow to do better!

Bowden's 7th Birthday!!!

Yes, you read that correctly! Bowden turned seven years-old yesterday. It's so crazy to think how quickly time has flown by. He's such a blessing to us and such a great kid. He rarely gets in trouble anymore. I have to add that a couple of weeks ago, August 18th to be exact, he prayed and asked Jesus to come into his heart. Needless to say, we are so excited for him! At the end of the month, he starts a new Christians class at church. After that, he will be baptized. It's so awesome to see God working in his life and heart.

Outside of that, he's really into football these days. He and Jason play/practice most every night. They are constantly playing catch, running routes (that they make-up), tackling, you name it. He's playing flag football through our church and is so excited for their first game. He also loves his Wii. I have to admit he's pretty addicted, so I have to be pretty firm with the boundaries of when and how long. He loves school and, thankfully, has never complained once about going. He's made some great friends and seems to be well-liked at school--unforntunately, by the girls, too. He says he doesn't have a girlfriend, though, and doesn't want one. I'm hoping it stays that way for a while. It seems that girls become aware of boys at a much earlier age, but once boys start noticing girls, they never stop. I'm totally glad that he just likes playing with his friends--boys and girls.

Speaking of friends, last night, we celebrated his birthday with a lot of his good friends from school. He wanted a football party, so we had it at this place called Fieldhouse USA. They were led in several games and then ate dinner and cake. Bowden was dripping with sweat by the time they sat down (for those of you that know him well, I know you aren't surprise...he's an abnormally sweaty kid). They all seemed to have a great time, though! Bowden, I know, loved being surrounded by his buddies and I heard lots of, "Cool!, Awesome!, Ooohhs!" when he opened presents. Let's just say we'll be very busy in the upcoming weeks putting all these Legos together!

Piercey Baby

I don't know what we are going to do with our little Piercy-baby. He keeps us in stitches, as my grandmother used to say. Yesterday, he walked into the living with chocolate on his face. Since I hadn't given him any, I went to the pantry to investigate what was going on....this picture tells the rest of the story.

What in the world!! Yes, he ate it--foil and all!! This morning, I caught him trying to do it, again. (I had kept it to show Jason)

Bye, Mom!

So, my baby started 1st grade today, and would you believe he didn't want me to walk him to class. He said, "Mom, I know where I'm going and I know what to do!" Oh my! He did say when we pulled up, though, that I could give him a hug and a kiss....sweet man! When I got home, I found I wasn't the only one upset. Pierce was walking through the house going, "Where's my Bowden?" and then yelling his name. We've stayed pretty busy today, though, and are about to go pick him up. I can't wait to hear how it went...(:

End of the Summer Activities

We took the boys to a Roughriders game as kind of a last 'hoorah' before school started last Monday evening. In light of how hot it's been, I dropped Jason and Bowden off to watch batting practice and get autographs, and Pierce and I just went for the game. As they were walking in, a lady stopped them and asked if Bowden would be interested in a participating in a water balloon throwing contest between innings. Jason said of course and didn't really ask anymore questions. So, after the 3rd inning we reported to our designated spot and the girl informed us that Bowden's target would basically be Jason's head--whoever landed the most water balloons in the collander on their dad's head won. This I found to be hilarious....Jason did not, but was a good sport nevertheless. Here are pics from our fun night!(:

So, this last week, I decided it was time to get busy with potty training. Pierce had been taking his diaper off a lot and telling me when he needed to go #2, so I thought I might should take the opportunity to get it done. Since Monday, I have seen much more of a naked Mr. Piercey than I care to, but it has seemingly worked. Our first day was pretty terrible, but thankfully, since then, he's really gotten the hang of it. Thank you, Jesus! As a sidenote, I loathe potty training, so had this drawn out for a while, I would have just thrown the towel in and let him stay in diapers.....until kindergarten.(:

Summer Fun

Tired of pictures....

We have been busy little bees this summer--enjoying a lot of the fun places in the big D. We took Bowden on his first trip to Six Flags a couple of weeks ago and had a great time (except for the fact that it felt like 120 degrees out there). I also have to mention that this was my first time to go and, yes, we've lived here for over 6 years now. Anyway, we learned that Bowden is quite the thrill seeker. If the ride look even remotely kiddie-ish, he didn't want to have anything to do with it. Hawaiian Falls is a local waterpark we visited during that same week and the boys, of course, had a blast there, too. The other pretty cool place we went hit up was the Dallas Aquarium. Mom came in town and she and I took the boys one morning. Pierce loves Finding Nemo, so he was pretty much enamored with the whole thing. In the meantime, we've just been trying go to the pool as much as possible (meaning 3 to 4 times/wk!!) to try to stay cool and make as many memories as possible!

Last Day of School

I know, I know--My posts are a little out of order, but I have to tell you that the last month of school and the week after (that led up to vacation) was insanely busy for us. Between baseball, swim lessons, end of the year activities, and church, we didn't have much free time. I had to post these great pics, though, of my sweet man's last day of kindergarten.

I could not be more please with his first year of school. Mrs. Pickett was an awesome teacher and made it so fun. He really didn't want the year to be over.
He told me he wished she could be his teacher all the way through high school. So sweet!

Now, we are in full-out summer mode. We've been making regular trips to the pool, had several playdates, and went to the movies the other day. My goal is to make as many fun memories as we can this summer, since I can't seem to find the pause button anywhere. First grade is staring us in the face!
