I call Bowden Mr. Inquisitive because he asks questions all the time. It must be more than the normal 4 year-old b/c his preschool teacher called him that last year, too. Anyway, I recently explained that Nana and Papa were Jason's mom and dad. We'd told him that before, but it didn't really seem to click until this time around. He then ask who my mom and dad are. I told him Gigi was my mom and that he had never met my dad, but he was the one in the pictures that we call Papaw. After several other questions that would make this post way too long, he asked where my dad was. So, I told him that he got really sick when I was in college and passed away and went to heaven to be with Jesus. He processed that one for a minute and then said, 'well, how did he get there?' After some questioning and explaining, I figured out that he meant how did Dad physically get there. I wish the bible outlined in detail just exactly how that works, but since it doesn't, I just told him that b/c I had never been to heaven I really didn't know how getting there worked. (I think his goal is to stump me) He then said, 'I bet God came down with his horses and fire and took him back.' Ha, ha! I had read him the story of Elijah the week before and he obviously recalled those details of the story. It was so funny! He's like his dad and his papaw in that he can somehow make even the most serious conversations funny.
