Standing in front of a tree in the lobby.... They were a little overwhelmed at this point. We'd just gotten there and had not told them ahead of time what we were doing....
We don't have any slide pics of B because we were doing them with him!
We got some big laughs out of watching Pierce, though.
We'd just finished at the water park...totally wiped out...So, this past weekend, Jason and I decided it would be fun to take the boys on an overnight trip to Great Wolf Lodge. We called it "Rock Star Weekend" because they got to eat whatever they wanted, stay up late, and it was just all about them and what they wanted to do.
In case you've never heard of it, it's a hotel or as they call it, lodge, in Grapevine, TX. The main attraction is the waterpark, most of which is located inside. There is also an arcade, restaurants, a kids spa, as well as, adult spa, a treasure hunt and the list goes on and on. We definitely came to the right place because there was no shortage of things to do.
So, we arrived mid-afternoon on Friday and immediately changed clothes and headed to the waterpark. We spent almost three hours riding the slides, floating in the lazy river, jumping waves in the wave pool, and watching Pierce run all over the toddler pool. After everyone was pretty water-logged and hungry, we changed and went and stuffed ourselves in one of the hotel restaurants. Then, it was off to the arcade where we spent the next little bit playing games. We finished off the evening with a show and bedtime story featuring Wylie the Wolf.
At this point, we were very pleased with everything, definitely agreed that it was worth the money, and were looking forward to the next day. So, we headed upstairs around 9 pm, did the bedtime routine, and tucked the boys in their bunks for some cartoons. Finally, around 10:15, we turned out the lights and said the party was over. I have to preface this next part by adding that this was Pierce's first time to sleep in a bed. Our room was a 'Kid's Kamp' room which had a kid's nook with bunkbeds that looked like a fort. Very cute. So, for about 10 minutes, we tricked ourselves into thinking this was going to work out great...it was then that Pierce started crying out and getting out of his bed. After the fourth time of putting him back in bed and telling him to stop crying, Jason went in there and got onto him pretty sternly (swatted his hiney) to which Pierce responded with throwing up the majority of his dinner. Poor fella. It was awesome.(dripping w/ sarcasm) We thought or hoped that, maybe, he'd just eaten too much, but three episodes and two housekeeping visits later, all by 1 am, proved that this was no joke. Jason ended up sleeping on the pull-out couch and Pierce slept with me. (Bowden is such a sound sleeper that he was clueless to what was going on...he stayed in his bunk) We niavely went to breakfast the next morning to see if Pierce was feeling any better and....no such luck. So, we headed home for a quiet rest of the weekend.
On the upside, Pierce started feeling better Sunday night, Jason took Bowden to Gattitown to make-up for missing out on the waterpark Saturday, and I was not the one who had to wash all those nasty sheets Friday night!(:
